Domino’s on University – Gainesville, Fl

May 20, 2010

Four and a half hours of organic chemistry tutoring led 3 people to buy 3 medium 1-topping pizzas from Domino’s for how much? $4.67 each!! SO FREAKING CHEAP! It’s a summer carryout special here. The place was clean while we waited inside. Their crust is soo much better now. If you’ve never eaten Catalina dressing with pizza before, DO IT! ‘Cause it’s a Kristina thing to do. I’ve started a movement among few already. Oh, and here’s a money saving tip if you didn’t already know.. 1 topping on half a pizza and 1 topping on the other half count as 1 topping! That way you don’t pay an extra buck and a half for 2 toppings. :)

Oh by the way, the chick at the register said always ask for specials! They won’t tell you unless you ask.

Reggae Shack Cafe – Gainesville, Fl

May 19, 2010

I’ve always wanted to go to Reggae Shack but delayed it up until now. The commercial for Reggae Shack comes on all the time on the radio, and it tempted my neighbor enough to get me out of bed to go there.

Going inside wasn’t what I expected. I never knew it was like a sit down, order, then dine type of place. I thought since it was a “cafe” you order at the counter and wait for it. But I actually think there’s that option as well.

Hmm.. what can I say.. It was nice and bright inside. I like the choices in color :). We sat near the window which was nice. The only thing that bothered me were the pesky flies coming in from outside.

I kinda regret getting a Mistic fruit drink (I didn’t know what it was). It ended up tasting like the V8 Splash I have at home though hahah. I shoulda stuck with my instincts and got the pineapple soda!

Amber’s Caribbean Chicken Sandwich. I  only tried her fries. They were good.. and no that’s not all salt, it was sugar!

Scott was so determined to try Jamaican Jerk Chicken for the first time.. by the time I got around to taking a picture of his plate he was halfway done with it! It’s funny watching people who can’t tolerate spicy food eat spicy food–puaha.

I came in wanting curry chicken but ended up ordering the Brown Stew Fish. It was a whole fried snapper.. fish head included! The man at the table next to us was eating this and he made it look soo goood. Plus when he said it’s spicier than the way he makes it at home, I just had to get it. I don’t really know what it’s supposed to taste like.. but it was good–all nice and flavorful and spicy and such. Actually come to think of it, it kinda tastes like something my mom makes.. except this dish left a little burn in my tummy.

Amber and I concluded we had to order dessert. Dulce De Leche Festivals. What’s a festival? They described it as being like hush puppies. I wanna describe it as fried pound cake with ice cream, which in the end tasted like fried ice cream with condensed milk and chocolate in between. Mm it was so dang sweet. I like sweets.

All in all, I think I’ll be back. I wanna try some other stuff on the menu. Oh yeah, the menu. I think they should replace their cover pictures with my food pictures. Mine look more appetizing. I’m just sayin’. Hehe.

Shout out to our waiter, Bernard! He said something about me taking pictures of food and I told him it’s because I have a food blog. Then he gave me a paper and pen and asked me to write down the name of it and I did. It felt like I was giving an autograph. That made my day! Hahaha :)

Loreal’s French Toast

May 18, 2010

In the mornings, I usually grab a cup of yogurt and I’m out the door. But I like it when people make breakfast for me.. or any meal at that. It’s nice. This morning Loreal kept banging at my door, yelling at me to get out of my bed to come and take a picture of the French toast she made. So I did. Then I ate it. Breakfast makes me happy. When my day starts out right, it hopefully should end right. I’m prayin’ for a productive day today! I <3 French bread–it brings me back to my roots! =P

I got a package today! :)

May 17, 2010

I wish I could’ve gone to Hawaii! But this’ll do.. for now. Thank you to my best frand and her broho for the goodies from Hawaii for my birthday. I would just like to let you guys know I already opened 3 bags of the macadamia nuts already (I really like the coconut balls w/ macanuts). Oh, and I’ll cut the pineapple later (because I actually know how to do so UNLIKE SOMEBODY!) Haha! Side note: pineapples are one of my favorite fruits.

My m&m’s

May 16, 2010

In my opinion, Sunday afternoon is the best afternoon of the week. I’m glad I didn’t go to work today. It allowed me to rummage through my old belongings (when I should have been studying). These m&m’s are almost 3 years old now, but I could still say they were one of the best surprises I have ever received. =)

First Time @ Leonardo’s – Gainesville, Fl

May 15, 2010

Last year I took Microeconomics and Professor Rush always used Leonardo’s as an example to explain things. Whenever I looked up Leonardo’s By The Slice on the internet it had rave reviews and such.. so after that I decided I needed to try it for myself one day to see if it was just THAT great. What can I say? The atmosphere was typical of the college grunge you find here in Gainesville.

The rolls were nice and doughy. I liked the butter garlic dipping sauce more than the marinara (it was a bit too sour)

Spin Tom – Spinach & tomato (the chicken was extra)

The pizza was only okay.. props on being fresh and having crispy on the outside soft on the inside crust.. but the flavor just wasn’t there for me. I didn’t know our Spin Tom was gonna come without marinara.. maybe one of these days I’ll go back to try the regular cheese pizza (it looked like it would taste better).. but I don’t know when that’s gonna happen because last night we made a pact: from now on where ever we eat, it has to be somewhere we haven’t tried before. It’s our idea of exploring what Gainesville has to offer before we graduate—two more years! Yay for new projects!

Whatchamacallit

May 14, 2010

Whatcha doin’?
Eatin’ chocolate.
Where’d ya get it?
Doggy dropped it.
Where’d he drop it?
In the sewer.
What’s it called?
Doggy manure!
I miss elementary school! I remember it was like the 2nd grade or something like that and this boy named Ricky? taught me that saying! I can’t believe I just thought of it when these words haven’t come out of my mouth some million years ago. I already brushed my teeth too so now I’ll have to re-brush darn it. I’m a girl. I’m on my period. I crave chocolate. Hah! This is my favorite chocolate bar. Whatchamacallit! Catchy huh? The first time I ate it was at my dad’s store back in the 90s and the rest was history. I know what you’re thinking, “Golly gee that’s a lot of chocolate bars!” Well, I couldn’t resist a 6 pack for 3 bucks ya’ heard. :)

Mongolian Beef Noodle Bowl @ Bento Red – Gainesville, Fl

May 13, 2010

For lunch I had the Mongolian beef noodle @ Bento Red. I don’t know if it’s a real dish or not because this is a fusion restaurant.. It was basically Mongolian beef on top of plain thick noodles and I suppose it’s meant to be all stirred up because that’s what I did? At first I was confused at how the noodles looked like spaghetti to me. Anyhow it satisfied my super bad craving for noodles that I had today! Even if it was a bit too oily.

Lemon Torte Parfait

May 12, 2010

About two weeks ago, my momma gave me a bunch of coupons that I could use when I got back to school. The majority of the coupons were yogurt coupons (because she hates yogurt but I like it) that were about to expire soon. So now I have 4 different types of yogurt that are about to expire soon and I have to eat them all up! This is a Lemon Torte Delights parfait by Yoplait. I dunno what a lemon torte tastes like, but it kinda reminds me of Key Lime Pie minus the Key Lime and add the lemon. I do like this because it’s like eating two flavors of yogurt in one :). Oo and for those who need it, the box also says it’s gluten-free.

Strawbreezy Pancakes

May 11, 2010

It’s weird actually being up early and being productive! It gives me time to eat breakfast! Well, actually, it’s more like brunch. I got home from class around 11ish and one of my roommates made pancakes apparently, so I took one and topped it with syrup and a couple strawbeezies and chowed down. All I was missing was some whipped cream.. that would have been amazing. I like strawberries on my pancakes more than any other fruit because it adds something sour-ish to the sweetness. I like balance–love that yin and yangity yang!
